Infosys HackWithInfy – Selection as Systems Engineer Specialist

“Success is no accident. It is hard work, perseverance, learning, studying, sacrifice and most of all, love of what you are doing or learning to do.”Pele

I would like to start by saying our college has one of the best placement teams who is very enthusiastic and hardworking towards the success of the students. They introduced me to the HackWithInfy coding contest, which was organized by Infosys for recruitment. This contest consisted of two rounds. Round-1 had a total of 3 questions that could be attempted irrespective of any programming language of your choice. Coming from a Bio-Medical Engineering background, as I was more familiar with C programming language, I proceeded with it and successfully attempted a question by clearly all the required test cases and thereby qualifying for the next round.

Within a motnh after Round 1, Round-2 was conducted with a similar question format. Even here, I performed to my best ability by solving one question. As soon as the results of this round were out, I got a call for the interview.

As I went to the location of the interview, initially the scenario was a little terrifying to me as there were a total of 600 students that have come from all over Telangana mostly from Computer Science background which I feared might but a Bio-Medical Engineering student like me, at a little disadvantage. But due to the preparation that my college helped me during the last 3.5 years, I soon overcame that fear. The interview was for both Software Engineer (SE) and Systems Engineer Specialist (SES) with Rs. 3.6 LPA as well as Rs. 5 LPA respectively.

In the meantime, I had also acquired another jewel in my crown and that is command over Python programming language. The questions were mainly focused on C and Python and not just that, they were very much impressed with my projects and competitions I had participated during college days. I had participated in “ANVESHNA” with a project titled “Smart Cylinder” which had won 6th position for which “Assistive Technology Lab (ATL)” (a unique and one of its kind of lab in BVRIT) played an important role to help me throughout, in “Start-up India Yatra” with an idea to help the farmers which was one in top 30 ideas all over Telangana and also got pre-incubation offer from SRIX Warangal under T-Hub and as well as in Smart India Hackathon, 2019 in which our team was one among the top 10 teams.

By the end of the interview, I was confident that I would get the selection in SES, and as expected, I had managed to prove my worth with all the hard work and dedication I had put forward and acquired the post of System Engineer Specialist.
